
Resistors for Telecom & Data Center
Telecom central offices and hyperscale data centers consume 1–100 MW per site and rely on resistors throughout the power chain. How to Select
- Match resistor IP rating to cabinet class — IP55 outdoor, IP20 server rack, IP31 telecom shelf
- For -48 V DC plant, specify low-EMI non-inductive wirewound or thick-film to meet ITU-T K.48
- Size pre-charge τ = R × C so 5τ < 500 ms UPS contactor closure (typical 200 kVA UPS)
- Verify flammability per UL 94 V-0 for in-cabinet placement near battery cells
- Request NEBS Level 3 fire-spread test report and earthquake zone 4 shock data
- Use four-terminal Kelvin shunts for currents > 50 A to eliminate trace-resistance error
