AEC-Q200
AEC-Q200 is the qualification standard from the Automotive Electronics Council for passive components, defining stress-test conditions resistors must pass to be used in safety-critical automotive electronics from -40 °C to +155 °C.
Definition
AEC-Q200 'Stress Test Qualification for Passive Components' was created jointly by Chrysler, Ford and GM to harmonise reliability requirements across automotive OEMs. It applies to resistors, capacitors, inductors, transformers, EMI filters and other passives. The standard groups parts into operating-temperature 'grades' — Grade 0 (-50 °C / +150 °C), Grade 1 (-40 °C / +125 °C), Grade 2 (-40 °C / +105 °C), Grade 3 (-40 °C / +85 °C), Grade 4 (0 / +70 °C) — and prescribes pass/fail criteria per grade.
A qualifying resistor must survive: 1000 h power cycling, 1000 h operation at upper temperature, biased humidity 1000 h at 85 °C / 85 % RH, 1000 thermal-shock cycles, 96 h ESD per AEC-Q200-002, mechanical shock 1500 g for 0.5 ms, vibration 5 g for 30 minutes per axis, solderability after 8 hours steam ageing, terminal robustness, flammability (UL 94 V-0), and a 'destructive physical analysis' looking for cracks, voids and delamination after stress. Drift criteria are typically ΔR ≤ ±0.5 % for precision, ±1 % for general purpose, ±3 % for power.
For EV powertrain, ADAS sensors, battery management and other safety-critical control loops AEC-Q200 is non-negotiable — purchasing departments simply do not buy non-qualified parts. Hongyi qualifies its EV-relevant ranges (RH-series aluminium-housed, RW-series wirewound for current sense) to AEC-Q200 Grade 1 and supplies the PPAP documentation required for IATF 16949 customer audits.

Current-Sense Resistor
A precision low-value resistor (typically 0.1 mΩ to 1 Ω) placed in series with a current path so the voltage developed across it, V = I × R, provides an accurate analog measurement of the current.
